forty-one.

Hiya chicas! :D Hope everyone is having a LOVELY weekend.

I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you that left me such wonderful comments! I really appreciate it. I thought I was alone in the whole leg dealio but it’s good to know I’m not crazy. Plus, I think I can finally tell me Mom… the next time I see her, which will be in a long time… like May? Gar! :( I hope I don’t chicken out by then.

Not very many eats to show and those that I do have are pretty icky looking. Since I got my camera back, I really hate taking pictures with my phone. (I use my phone for lunch/dinner pictures because I eat in the dining hall and my camera for snacks/breakfast which I usually eat in my room.)

I do have quite a few bar pictures though.

001not really my favorite. it was okay, but too sweet for me.

003one of my favorite bars. i love the mango-y flavor. mmm.

004   wow! this is such a wonderful flavor. really, it’s almost as
delicious as the mango macadamia kind bar or the cherry
pie larabar, but not quite. it really does wake you up!

006close-up. lots of almond slivers and the vanilla-yogurt stuff on the
top and bottom was pretty tasty.

007mmmmm!!! I loved how  lemony it was. really really good.

a lunch and dinner from friday.0326091751chicken soup + Fritos x2
I haven’t had Fritos since 7th grade. I forgot how much I love them!

0327091711 a piece of FRIED cod (can you see him back there?),
steamed green beans + tomatoes, and some weird chip thing.

I’ve been trying really hard to eat chips lately. I’ve never been a junk food kind of person but there are some fatty foods that I really like (fritos and kettle cooked potato chips.) that I’ve “given up”.

I’ve also been trying to lay off the yogurt, especially the low fat kind. In my mind, low fat = low calorie, low calorie = restricting, etc. etc. Low fat just seems to trigger me now. However, the roomie and I are going to stop’n’shop tomorrow because I have these:

002Yes! The lovely people at Stonyfield sent me some free yogurt coupons. :O

I can’t wait! I’ve only tried Fage (once) and Chobani (my love), in the Greek yogurt department, so I’m excited to expand my horizons.  I’ve heard mixed reviews about Oikos so I think I’ll do my own review tomorrow, once I taste. :) [Don’t worry, Mr. Chobani will come home with me too! The honey flavor, especially!)

I feel kinda weird today, not sure why. I just… I dunno, I’ve started to… ekk! I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it, but I’ve kinda started noticing this guy in my grade. Like, not just notice, but, you know, notice. I haven’t had this feeling since back in July of last year, right when I started going out with Fritz that, honestly as stupid/immature/childish/silly as it sounds, I really did love. He was the first and only person I ever told about ED and , when I told him, it just kinda slipped out- I didn’t mean to tell him. He was understanding about ED and helped me with it a lot. Unfortunately, it ended pretty badly in December and we stopped talking. I was really broken up about it because it was my fault. I cried all the time about it… ugg! That sounds really icky, you know? Makes me feel like one of those silly teenage girls that obsess over guys, when I’m really not. I don’t pay much attention to them at all, ‘cause they have the same maturity level that they did when they were five. But Fritz was different. (That sounds even worse to me. Gaaah!) And, I dunno, this boy just seems different too… deep down, my gut says, “No, Em, he. is. not.” but my heart says different. Whenever I see him, I basically run. Bolt is more like it. I’m afraid that he might be able to see through all the fake crap I put up when I’m with other people. I really hate feeling jumbled up like this, especially when compounded with ED.

Because, to be honest, ED is being an ass lately. I had a really bad day eating today and I went to the gym for a loooong time. And the worst part? I’ve been planning since about Wednesday night / Thursday morning when I could go to the gym and work out a lot. I’ve been piling a lot of food on my plate for lunch and only eating a little. I got really freaked out when one of my friends asked, “Why do you always get so much food and then never eat it? You don’t eat anything!” ED’s being a sneaky little thing and getting back at me since I’m at school. And I’m feeling really icky about my legs. They just seem extra fat this week… and it’s only the first week back. No, I’m going to beat this. I’m going to win. ED’s not going to have control over the rest of my life.

Ahhh! I’m probably boring you girls by now with all my babbling! I’ll be commenting later night ‘cause I’ve got lots of time. ;) Have a nice Saturday night!

thirty-seven.

Long time no seee! Sorry I’ve been MIA for the past few days. (Five days, good God!)

Unfortunately, I really have no reason.
I’m just lazy. :o

Before ya’ll come at me, I have cookies to share! Uhh, well, I really only have pictures… but lots of pictures!

Alright, let’s rewind to last Saturday…
SAT DAY.

Early mornings and I don’t mix. I haven’t woken up before 7:30 since August, so 5:30 ISN’T FUN. D: But my lovely breakfast was:

001

more homemade chobani-style yogurt with
a white chocolate macadamia luna bar, a
bosque pear and honey.

003

The SAT was okay, I guess. To be honest, it was kinda boring. We didn’t get started until 8:30, because people were late and there were a few stand-bys that needed to register. Once we got started, the proctor gave us breaks after every section. After the essay? Break. Right after the next section? Break. All the sections, even the very last ten-minute section, had breaks. It was so long. Long. Long. Long.
At least I had a Cocoa Mole Larabar to keep me company. :)

They let us out at 1:45. Yes, ONE FORTY-FIVE! Can you believe it? Gaaah, I wanted to strangle myself.
Too bad I couldn’t, since mi madre decided it was time to take el viaje a la casa de los abuelos.

Lucky for me, that meant Greek food in downtown Charleston on a Saturday night! Sorry I can’t offer any pictures, but imagine: gyro meats, spanakopita, roasted lamb, feta cheese, mmm! I got a sampler plate with all of the above. Definitely the greatest food known to man!

That is except for yogurt. Now, dear children, don’t get overexcited. :D

021

homemade chobani-style yogurt with walnuts,
strawberries, chopped dates and honey.

022

~~~~~~~~~~~~
004
more homemade yogurt with a chocolate pecan pie
luna bar (warmed up!) and walnuts.
005
~~~~~~~~~~~~

023

homemade yogurt with dates and honey.

024

I can’t believe I haven’t put dates in yogurt before! Literally, too good for words. I think it’s my new favorite topping, besides… well, all the rest.

On Monday night, in honor of my Greek adventure in Charleston, I pulled out the phyllo dough and made some spanakopita and those Barefoot Contessa Brussels sprouts. I (kinda) used this recipe for the spinach pie and it was beyond amazing. I had four pieces. Yeah, four. The phyllo dough was buttery and crispy, the cheese- warm but not too melty, and the spinach parsley and onion mixture- perfect. You’ll definitely see this in the future.

019

020

And, ironically, the best thing about the past few days was the rain! I really dislike rain- it’s all soggy and, well, kinda wet. D: But it means flowers!

012

raindrops! :)

016

Oh, and here’s today’s lunch:

026

spinach + mozerella quesdilla (made with two
tortillas!) with a side of those nummy sweet potato fries.

027

And I have some very belated thank-you’s to give out for these two awards!

Lemonade Cheers Award[5]

gracias a Morgan (above) y McRae (below) para los premios. :)

iloveyourblogaward
I never really thought my blog would ever receive one award, let alone the three I’ve gotten so far! Thanks so much- it means pretty much the world to me! ♥ You girls are so great.

So, here’s the distributing:

First off, the award by McRae has some rules.
Here are the rules: 1) Add the logo of the award to your blog 2) Add a link to the person who awarded it to you 3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs 4) Add links to those blogs on your blog 5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

My seven are as follows:
Sophia, Tina, Morgy, Stacey, Kiki, Squill & Debbie!
You girls can expect a comment in your latest blog posts, ASAP!

For the award given by Morgan, I'm going to limit it to two (mostly because the majority of ya'll have gotten it already!). And, keeping in spirit of the others who have given the award, I'll pick based on the bloggers that make me smile, excluding the ones that were given the award already. (okay, Emily, get on with it!) Squill & Tina.

Phew. That’s a lot of award-giving! I really appreciate the awards and I hope everyone else does too. :)
(Maybe I should make a super cool award and give it out too!)

Well, girlies, this has been a super long postie and I have an orthodonist appointment to go to, so I’ll catch ya on the flipside. Hang ten & keep it real.

Yeah, I’m a super cool surfer.

P.S. Little bit of a delay on commenting, but I' will most definitely get to it. ♥

Yes, this is what it looks like from the inside of prison... I mean, my dorm room. I woke up to the evil snow Monday morning and still took my Spanish exam, pero no es dificul.
I had my Algebra II exam today. Whooo. Not.

But I got a nice little breakfast yesterday:

Yesterday's breakfast:

yoplus+ vanilla yogurt with a crumbled
up "nutz over chocolate" luna bar.

and some fruit:

No other foodie pics. Sorry. ;(

I don't know what's up with my eating this week but it's been bad. And, when I say bad, I mean like it's been massively high calorie/fat. Yesterday, I ate tons of popcorn chicken (which, I actually don't like, at all) and three servings of sweet potato fries for dinner. I just munch on soy nuts all day then dig into some other less healthy foods. Example:

ham and cheese stromboli (yuck! yet, I ate it all)
with a side of balsamic veggies (which I didn't eat).

and for a snack on the way back?

hamburger.
ewww.

I attribute part of lunch's eating to an awkward situation. Here's a little back story, before I begin. My roomie has this idea that my soul mate is this guy in our form who is really smart and kinda cute but has little to no personality. She's been telling all of our friends about it and they all agree.
So, today at lunch, roomie, plus me and another of our buddies sat down at a table where my ex (urg, sounds so weird and stupid saying that) was sitting. It was kinda awkward since we don't talk (another story for another time) but it became even worse when one of my friends said, "Hey, Emily, how's your new boyfriend, huh?" Everyone at the table was suddenly staring at me and pestering me about it. I got really nervous (being the center of attention like that scare me half to death!) and tried explain that it wasn't true, that I have no significant other (don't intend to for awhile either) and this kid really means nothing to me. Wow, that sounded mean... but no one believed me anyways. I'm horribly afraid that a rumor will stem from this and fly around the school at ninety miles an hour. I'm so worked up about this and, to be honest, it really isn't that big of a deal. I just over-analyze things a lot and it gets to me. I keep thinking that it'll be all over school by tomorrow and I'll be so embarrassed. Gah! I hate social stuff. I want to be a hermit. D:

For tonight, it was "breakfast for dinner" day. I ate tons of spinach crepes and salmon. Then, I grabbed a hash brown and bathed him in cream cheese! Although dinner was good, I ate too much and I feel bloated now.

The weird thing is I don't even like meat, besides the occasional fried chicken leg and a little bit of seafood- red meat makes me queasy! Usually, I don't eat it at all and stick with eggs/yogurt/bodybuilder bars for my protein. I just keep eating stuff. I was so messed up over the whole deal at lunch and I'm stressed about exams. It all compounds and makes me feel horrible. I'm so ready for this week to be over.

Sorry for being in a poopy mood today. I'll be better tomorrow. Thanks for putting up with me. It means a lot. :) I love knowing that there are people that read my entries and leave such lovely comments.

But, on a lighter note, Stanford got a hold of my PSAT scores from last October/November and I was invited to apply to an academic summer camp there! :O I have to retake the SAT next week though- yuck. I feel really happy about it though and it kinda cancels out this icky week. (and it's only Tuesday!)

Two more exams to go- qimica y humanidades.

Nightie night, chickadees. ♥ ♥ ♥

26 February, 2009

twenty-eight.

Hola chicas! After skipping another day of blogging, I have this to confess:

I have not eaten yogurt in three days. :o

Yeah, the dining hall is being purely evil and not serving any yogurt, at all! :( I have some Yoplait and Activia stowed in the fridge, but I want to save that for exams next week.

If there's no yogurt tomorrow, some one is going to be in trouble.

Yesterday's Breakfast:

Rice Krispies + Skim Milk
*snap* *crackle* *pop*

Mr. Currant Scone + Cream Cheese Frosting
(weird combination, but a delicious breakfast treat!)

Yesterday's Snack:

Heated him up for a bit in the microwave.
yum, yum, yum. the walnuts are so big and tasty! :)

Other than those foodies, I have no pictures from yesterday. I lost my phone half way through the day and that resulted in a lack of food pictures to share. Sorry. :(

But on to today! :D I got my AGII test back and I didn't fail- only an A-! I'm really excited about it since I thought I had gotten at least half of the questions wrong! :D My average went down to an A, but I'm okay with that. So relieved too- I thought I was going to have to majorly cram for the exam.

Today was a weird pig-out sort of day for me- a bunch of oily, greasy, sugary foods that everyone knooows they love.

Snack:

Lunch:

veggie quesdilla with a side of veggies. x2
(Me gustan las verduras. :D)

Hello, cheesy, oily, veggie deliciousness.
(well, maybe not the oily part :o)

Dinner:

two slices of steaming hot cheese pizza.
♥ I was ready for a challenge today!

Snack #2:

two lindt dark chocolate truffles, leftover
from mi madre's v-day package.

Nothing else important to report. The weather was nice today, windy as usual but bright.

Spring's coming. :)
Have a great rest of the night, girlies! ♥

24 February, 2009

twenty-seven.

Happy Mardi Gras, girlies! :)
Don't go too crazy, tehe.

Oh, and I'm ready to strangle the word verification thingie. D: Will there ever be a solution?

Snack:

Chocolate Raspberry Luna Bar
:( Silly thing was past its expiration date.

I don't know why, but I really like this. :)

Lunch:

Sweet potato fries + ketchup, with corn.
Sorry, they're a little blurry.

Dinner
:

Mardi Gras themed, of course!

Okra + Tomatoes, with sunflower seeds.

Louisiana-style Flank Steak with A1 Sauce! :D
I love A1. ♥ ♥
(It's possible the greatest thing since sliced bread.)

Dessert:

pumpkin ice cream on top of
a mashed&microwaved banana

Weather: :o

It was so pretty today: nice and blue... but something was amiss in the world.
There was NO yogurt in the diet of Emily today. :O

Uggg, the steak's starting to turn on me. Tummie and meat just don't get along very well. I'm going to take a quick nap to (hopefully) make it better.

And happy pre-Ash Wednesday.
I've got an all school retreat tomorrow and a nice *cough* not *cough* hour long mass to celebrate it.

Enjoy the rest of your night, girlies! :D

23 February, 2009

twenty-six.

Rawr.
Monday's suck. :(

After actually beasting my chem test today, I pretty much failed my AG2 test. I forgot how to graph logs right before my teacher passed the test out and it just so happens that the first question was, you guessed it!, graphing the darn things. Exams are next week so I can't even make this stupid thing up in time.

Logs = mean
I'm going have to study pretty hard for the exams. D:

On top of that, the stupid word verifications aren't working right. :( I can't even comment on half your blogs! Sorry, girlies! ♥

Oh well, the day got better when I was awarded this title:

the "Manny Ramirez" of
Vocabulary Baseball
:o

Ignore the fact that I had no idea who he was before today. I felt pretty special.

But on to the eatsss:

Snack:

Before he took a spell in the microwave:

Luuuunch:
Wheat Toast and Spinach Salad with
Feta Cheese, Corn, Tomatoes & Glazed Tofu

And, of course, some yogurt:
vanilla yogurt plus rice krispies,
honey, and chocolate chips.

No dinner pics tonight. Instead of bringing my phone along to sports today, I forgot it and roomie+me went to dinner directly after. :(
But dinner was a bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder with brussel sprouts on the side.

Don't worry, I do have dessert pictures:

a mashed and microwaved banana (nice and warm!)
with haagan daaz honey vanilla fro-yo

one delicious beastie ♥

Have a lovely night, chicas. :)
